The Precious Gift Of This Life { & Why Shows That Glorify Suicide Do Not Honor God }

I was completely shocked the first time I heard the story of the new movie and popular book ‘Me Before You’. I saw as teenagers in my youth group raved on about it, as it sat in every store I walked into, and as thousands of posts were about Me Before You on social media. Girl Defined Ministries wrote an incredible post about why you should not watch this movie (according to scripture). But today, I don’t want to talk about why you shouldn’t watch this movie, or even the new TV series called 13 Reasons Why (that shocked me as well… which apparently is a show focusing on 13 reasons why a girl killed herself. )
Instead, I want to get down to the core problem of this idea that has become popular.

Suicide is not something to be glorified.

While I was pondering this, I want to point out something eye-opening I read in John 10:10.

 It says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to { KILL } and to destroy: I am come that they { might have LIFE }, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

One of the schemes of the enemy, is to steal your hope, KILL YOUR LIFE & ultimately destroy what God has planned for you + your purpose.

The enemy wants to glorify something so tragic, something that goes against God’s design for His chosen children.

If we truly understood all that Jesus went through to give us life, we would never want to watch a movie, read a book, talk about or even think about taking our own life or glorifying stories of others taking theirs.

Our life is not our own. It’s a precious gift from God.

Through suicide or by even watching suicidal shows:

You are throwing away God’s precious gift of life, for something the enemy has tried to glorify.

John 15:16 ~ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

~ you are a CHOSEN child of the King of Kings. You were created on purpose + for a purpose. You were fought for, died for & won the victory for. Your life on this earth is temporal. & if you are living your life according to God’s commands + His word, know the Father intimately & obeyed His steps to salvation, then death (in God’s timing + by His will) can be a beautiful thing. It is just a farewell from this world into your eternal home.

If you struggle with finding purpose on this earth or with suicidal thoughts, knowing this world is not your home & investing into people eternally can crush the enemies attacks to try to steal, kill & destroy.

YOU. DO. HAVE. PURPOSE.

Will you join me in taking a stand for LIFE? A stand for this precious gift God has given us. Every single person that has breath is valuable to the one who gave them breath. Let’s accept & fully believe our true identity as chosen, loved, on purpose + for a purpose, known, accepted, & valuable.

Our royal identity as God’s children.

Then, can we fully appreciate God’s purpose + design for life. This precious gift He has given.

Job 1:21 ~ The Lord gives & the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.
