Trusting Jesus In The Dark: That Is Faith

imageA few days ago when I was scrolling through Pinterest, a quote caught my eye.

It read :
” We are all just a car crash, a diagnosis, an unexpected phone call or a broken heart away from becoming a completely different person. How beautifully fragile are we that so many things can take but a moment to alter who we are forever? ”

This really caught my attention. The realness + rawness of this was insane.

Almost a year ago this July, one of my best friends was in a car accident. She, her brother & mom were in the car. Their lives were changed forever when her mom lost her leg. I watched as their whole lives began to revolve around trusting Jesus & knowing this was God’s plan for them.

About 5 years ago my life changed forever when we got the phone call saying my grandpa had stage 3 cancer, the highest stage you could be with his type of cancer. I watched as his whole life began to revolve around trusting Jesus & knowing this was God’s plan for His life.

When I was about 11 I was made fun of by one of my very best friends in front of his friends. My heart was hurting… really hurting. I had never experienced such pain in my life. I learned to surrender it to God. & you know what happened? I watched as my whole life began to revolve around trusting Jesus & knowing this was God’s plan for my life.

I wrote this in my bible a few weeks ago when I was struggling & fighting several battles in my life:

• on mountains high & in valleys low, I will praise your name

• in trials & tribulations, I will praise your name

• through rain or shine, I will praise your name

• in the good & the bad, I will praise your name

• when I fall & when I rise, I will praise your name

• I will praise you when I’m tired & I will praise you when I’m sad

• because you’re worthy // you’re always worthy of praise

God never told us it would be easy. This life stuff is hard. But he also never told us we would have to do it alone. He says to trust in him & he won’t let you fall. God is still writing your story. Don’t let go of your faith because of what you have yet to see. Trust Him even when you don’t understand.

So I will continue to praise & trust you. When I’m in the valley & when I’m on the mountaintop.

Because… You are worthy.
Psalm 84:12
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

” To trust God in the light is nothing, but to trust him in the dark – that’s faith. ” – C.H. Spurgeon

  1. About a week ago, my parents and siblings nearly died in a car accident. I cried just thinking of what I would do without my family, but I realized that through it all, I would have God. Things are constantly moving and changing, but not God. IN Him we can find our comfort when all else seems to fail.
