Your Strength & My Weakness

Marissa flopped down on her bed, a sigh escaping her lips. She was tired of this…. everything. Another day has gone by & she’s lost more of her strength. She tells herself there’s no hope left. She’ll never be like those other girls. She’s not pretty. She’s not smart. She doesn’t have friends… the one she thought was her friend talked about her behind her back. She’s lost all hope of being worth something…. if she’s spent 15 years of her life trying to be like them, she will obviously never be like them, right? She grabs up her phone to see a message pop up across her screen from a girl she once knew as a friend. A tear slides down her cheek as she reads it. “You’re NOTHING so don’t try to pretend like you’re something.” She lays the phone down and grabs a pillow, burying her face in it so her family can’t hear her sobs, the whole time thinking ,”she’s right, I am nothing.”

Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt like giving up? When you didn’t have strength for another day? When you felt like there was no reason to be on this earth & you’re worth nothing? When there wasn’t even an inch of hope for the future?

I know I have. The weight of this world is such a heavy burden to carry but Jesus never asked us to carry it alone. The whole time in your weakness, Jesus is reaching out to give you strength. You just have to grab it. When you feel like giving up, give it to Jesus. He knew all the hurt & pain a person could feel. He was beaten, yelled at, & crucified by those he came to save & denied & betrayed by two of his closest friends. He knows what it’s like to suffer. So when you say “no one knows what it’s like”…. remember Jesus & ask yourself that again. He may not have gone through the exact same situation as you, but he knows. & he also knows how to comfort you in your worst time. So give it to Jesus & he will never let you down.

Nehemiah 8:10
“for the joy of the Lord is your strength”

Philippians 4:13
“I can do {ALL} things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Isaiah 40:29-31
“He giveth power to the weak; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Psalms 46:1
“GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
How to find strength in the Lord:

1. Read his Word.

Psalms 119:28
“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen thou me according unto thy word.”

God’s word can continually give you hope, strength & peace. This is HIS living word.

2. Praise

Paul & Silas were beaten & thrown into prison & they praised God. (Acts 16:25) They were at one of their weakest points but they still praised God for who He is & he set them free. Giving your praise to God can give you strength.

3. Trust & Hope

Isaiah 12:2
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will {trust} and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”

Psalms 31:24
“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

4. Prayer

Give everything to God in prayer & that’s the absolute best thing you can do. Ask him to give you not only strength, but hope and joy in him daily.

{{ Let Jesus be your strength. His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Give your weaknesses to God & watch as he becomes our strength & helps us become the women we are called to be.
